The Collegiality of the Committee on Staffing
There is a sense that, sort of, the agreement among members and staffers on the committee that what they're doing is really important in something that doesn't have to do with partisanship. There are two looming dead lines for congress, where there are kind of big negative consequences if they don't act. So by the time the committee holds its first hear ing, if the current trajectory keeps up, the united states will have defaulted on the federal debt and the government will be shut down.
