I think it's very difficult to get to the sort of bilingual stage if you didn't start when you were a kid. I was forced to express myself in French, whether even if it was awkward. So, immersing yourself is the best way. We have to push ourselves or we have to throw ourselves into situations where we will struggle to survive and that's where the learning takes place.
