The Fed's Predictions for the Unemployment Rate

A net 44% of banks were tightening lending standards on C&I loans, commercial and industrial loans to small firms. That number is higher than we experienced at the height of the 2001 recession. The Fed might sit on its hands in the early innings of the phase two credit cycle downturn. In fact, I suspect they will. They'll pause, but they won't ease. And so I think the Fed is implicitly targeting a mild recession.
