Is There a Good Theory?

In electro physiology methods, whether stimulating or recording, you're often looking at a sparse subset of cells. But when it comes to controlling the system, i think it's not obvious that access to only a small number of nodes will allow you to drive the system. How do we know how many neurons we need access to to actually drive the system into the modes that we're looking for? Is a great question. It depends n on where in the pipe line you are, right? So if you're way over on the sensory side, versus way over onthe motor side, versus somewhere in the middle a, you're going to see very different things.
