The Lone Woman's Story

The lone woman, juana maria, was baptized on sant nicholas island in 18 53. She died of dysentery just seven weeks after arriving at the mission. Her story became a sensation around the world and is still referenced to this day. In two thousand nine an archaeologist found boxes of artifacts belonging to the nicoleno people. Over the years, a total of 469 human remains and 436 burial bjects have been found on the island.
