The Importance of Forks in Chinese Food
In Asian households, you take your shoes off when you enter the house, right? That's standard issue practice. I've watched Western people in Asian countries, even when they observe the pile of shoes sitting there, they don't get it. They just, there's a block. So instead of like wondering, okay, is this tradition, is this culture, is this just how people do things? It just stays that individual authentic way. And so after that happened and they made a huge scene, I talked to the tour guide and he said, absolutely. Chops are clearly the easier tool to use than chopsticks.
