The Influence of Du Bois on the Movement for African Liberation

Du Bois was always very committed to the cause of pan-Africanism. He believed that the war presented an opportunity to essentially address the problem of European colonialism as it related specifically to Africa. His organization of the Pan-African Congress in February of 1919 was his first step in doing that. It was relatively small but still very important in laying a foundation for future pan-African Congresses and ultimately for future movements for African liberation and decolonization.
