The Importance of Gender in Adulthood

When I was a kid, my mom stuck a bowl on top of my head and cut my hair. It wasn't until well into adulthood before I was willing to even consider cutting my hair shorter than my chin again. This is the idea of gender that I have, right? And we all have these ideas about gender that are really quintessential to our lives.
