The History of Disinformation in Russia
The recorded history of disinformation wars actually dates back to ancient Rome, though that term itself was not being used at the time. The use of disinformation by the Kremlin didn't end with the fall of the Soviet Union. Under Putin, Russia once again embraced disinformation as a core part of its international intelligence strategy and very presciently began adapting it to the digital domain.
