What's the Difference Between Slavery and the Whites?
During the height of slavery, slaves would dress as well as they possibly could. The business suit was invented in the 1840s to contain the body and make it uniform. And guess what? We still have that same business suit now. It looks essentially the way it did in eigh 18 forties when black men were only allowed colors: brown, blue or navy.
