Cromwell, the Greatest Commoner of All Time
Cromwell was the first commoner to become head of state since middle anglo saxon period. He is one of our greatest soldiers, even though he's somebody who never fought a fhorog tom on our behalf. In many ways, his crushing of the scots in 16 50 to one, was not only the only time that the scots have ever been comprehensively conquered. But cromwell gets them, they and just overy year. It's a unique and astonishing achievement, though one which most of the other constituent parts of the british isles would really like to forget.
