Since 1997, the value of the Lira was pegged to the dollar at about 1,500 to 1. The collapse of their currency caused a flood of people to try and withdraw money. To buy 100 McDonald's value meals in Switzerland, would cost about 2.2% of the average annual salary. In Lebanon, it would cost nearly 75%.
