In the early fifth century, that roman britain stopped being considered as a province of the roman empire. It was a time of turmoil and none of the emperar's attempts to take over were successful. And in its place comes instability, uncertainty and violence. What you see is the the grandee that i've talked about, the sort of polite way of express your wealth through mosaics, painted plaster, rapidly fall away. You start to see rooms being used for a very different purpose.
