Cortez's Conquest of the Aztecs
The clash carlands who ally with the Spanish and help them defeat the Mexica are very successful within the Spanish legal system. The first time Cortez returns to Spain from Mexico in 1528 he brings with him a big entourage of noble men. They gain the right to be recognized their city to be recognized as an independent state under the crown so they can never be subject to incommiendo or local authority.
