Liberals and Nationals - Are They the Same?

Liberal and national parties come together to form government, they call it the coalition agreement. The origins of the nationals are as a farmer's party which used to be called the country party. You'd probably say the nationals are more conservative, certainly more socially conservative than many people in the liberal party. But there aren't really any 'moderate' nats so you can put them on that spectrum too.
