Mariolina cars has drawn on dutch archives for her 20 20 book, blood on the river. Thousands of enslaved people in the dutch colony of babis rose up in rebellion. It was a revolt that came surprisingly close to succeeding and lasted an entire year. The book has recently been short listed for the 20 21 cundall history prize.
