The First Samuel
In first samuel, the people of Israel ask for a king to govern them. They are told by god that they will be punished if they don't get one. In deuteronomy chapter 17, God warns against having too many wives and horses. Samuel is born into this division; he ends up becoming their first king. He reigns for forty years before being killed in battle.
