Justin Royland has been removed from creative duties on the Emmy winning show that he voices two main characters on. He was charged with felony domestic violence by a Jane Doe whose authorities say she was dating up Royland at the time. Royland's lawyer says the charges are being misrepresented and he looks forward to clearing his name. After the domestic violence news broke, however, screen grabs of obscenity and slur riddle DM sent to fans of Rick and Morty by Royland including one underage girl surfaced. It all started in January of 23 when NBC News reported an ongoing court case stemming from an incident in May of 2020,. only a few weeks into the COVID lockdown in Southern California.
