Why Social Trust Matters
Social trust is premised on the notion that humans are what is called conditional cooperators. So we would like to cooperate if we think that others do the same. And from that it follows, if we trust others to do the right thing then we're also more likely to do so ourselves. That eases our cooperation, our interactions with other people and tend to make them more productive than if we had less trust.
