The Myth of Troy Was So Important to the Persians
Before the persian wars, there was no such thing as greece. There were city states united by a language with its various dialects. But they had no real sense of being hellenes to ther at all. The myth of of troy gave them some kind of galvanizing unity when the persians emerged as this huge super power in the east. And we shouldn't underestimate the rollar coaster impact it had on the greeks. I think that there's very little prospect of the persians having stroyed this nascent democracy.
