Gab Ibn Malik and the Battle of Tabuk

Gab ibn Malik was the first to recognize the Prophet ﷺ from amongst the people who were still left on the battlefield. He recognized him simply by his eyes because he had been wearing a helmet and an armor. The same one who stayed behind while the sallat al-Athir al-Hulifu took part in the battle of Tabuk is Gab ibn Malik.
