Graffiti in Archaeology

The word Witchmarks was invented by the mainstream media about a decade ago. These are marks which have been interpreted by archaeologists as being scratched or burned onto the walls to, in a sense, bring protection from the perceived threat of evil. It's a very problematic term, but it's one that gets trotted out by the media every year. And they assume that the general public are completely an otolent foolish and will need to have something spelled out to them in words that are not completely true.
