As a young man in the 1920s, Robert Oppenheimer was rather apolitical. He met Jean Tatlock, a young woman who was studying to become a psychiatrist. She railed against him for not becoming more politically engaged. By 1954, his FBI file had grown to be about 8,000 pages.
