Matilda Armatoilda would have seen that growing up with medieval women were noble women and royal women were routinely expected to be authoritative capable intelligent political actors. It was only really accepted if they were doing it on behalf of a man okay they might act as regents for their husband or or their son or something like like that but the male magnates nobles around the place would accept being told what to do by a woman because she was the representative of the authority of her male relative. People particularly in England seem to have a very clear idea of what they expect and don't expect from a woman so Matilda's going to have experiences of that in the future.
