The Green Movement - The End of Reformism
In 2009, mass protests were the largest since the Islamic Revolution and were repressed. In 2021, right wing candidate Ibrahim Raisi was elected president after the Guardian Council disqualified not only reformist candidates but also very moderate establishment ones. The election signaled the end of the reformist promise of changing the Islamic Republic from within.
