i think it's fair to say that ideas about the after life had a heightened immediacy and intensity at the time. We live in an age of security in science, medicine, and the belief there is definitely like an arrogance that we can just defeat, defeat, inevitable death. And i think that it was a very different attitude in the fourteenth century because it was, it was an inevitability. On man like iit must have been a pretty severe reality to have to face.
