The Long Telegram
In 19 forty six, an american diplomat called george kennon wrote a document that came to be known as the long telegram. He tried to trace the development of soviet thinking t the end of the second world war. And it's essentially that neither side twigged that the other side was different from the way er they thought about things. But washington steadfastly refused to take any notice of what emcannon was saying. They just didn't want to rob the boat.
