The Impact of the Black Decline on Risk-Averse People

A great mystery has long been why do the puchy sailors in lisbine sail off to the far east India and southeast asia when they know full well after the first few years that they've got at best a one in two chance of getting home alive. I think plague might have affected attitudes to risk in that way but there are other drivers of the willingness of people to take such huge risks with their lives which is something I argue was something I call crew culture.
