David Rothkopf: I worry that this is like one of those situations where I don't know the much maligned frog in the boiling water. He says declaring Ukraine to be part of NATO "seems like a really bad idea" Right now, he says, it would bring U.S., other NATO states directly into confrontation with Russia. Rothkopff: If you're the Russians and you're trying to keep Ukraine from getting into NATO, the first thing you do is threaten or actually extend the war.
