"I was basically a young guy who had no pedigree to be there. I had a couple hundred hours of flight time in little airplanes, and he couldn't care less," Nick said. "He got me in the airplane pretty quick, started flying pretty early, and got a lot of good memories flying with him." The C-47 is now being displayed at an aviation museum near his family's home; it has been on display for more than 20 years.
