"If you don't want to have things that are emotionally upsetting or disturbing or hurtful to you, what you want to learn how to do is to process it in such a way that you stay within a state of equilibrium," he says. "I can get myself into a rational place where what Albert Ellis used to call rational emotive thinking, where you understand that you become what you think about and your thoughts are really that which are the cause of the emotions that you have in your life" He adds: "Now I can do an awful lot of things with that."
