Did Mary Pardon Jane?
Mary was under huge pressure, particularly from the imperial ambassador, to have jane executed. Mary had always had a very, very close relationship with jane's mother, frances. She recognized that some form of justice needed to be seen to be done. I think ultimately, her hand was later forced by subsequent events, and she was'table to pardon jane. Unfortunately for jane, matters soon spiled out of her control.
