The Metaverse: The Next Big Thing?

I saw the metaverse announced in a pretty haphazard way with almost no technological development actually done at exactly the time when Facebook was like, they were scrambling to try to avoid antitrust scrutiny. And of course they dropped it, right? I mean, the avatar didn't have legs. That was a real tell. But I do think is that we're seeing that the hype cycle follows a similar pattern because that hype cycle is almost conjured into being as a necessity for the investor class and this sort of financial engine of Silicon Valley. What we're seeing is a sort of scaling up of the requirements for concentrated corporate technology, not innovation. There are shifts in techniques, but not meaningful shifts
