Mahi: We understand islam to be a source of individual salvation. But we lament the fact that if a person joins our community, they probably won't have an institutional home. Most people who become muslem are in some kind of radical redefinition; why would they embrace this law? Mahi: It's not knowing how to get in an elevator and give somebody an elevator pitch about eslam or knowing how to talk to your colleagues at work about ishlam.
