The History of the Chicken Sandwich
According to Chick-fil-A corporate lore, S. Truett-Cathy called it the Dwarf Grill because the original building was so small and cramped. He did not pioneer the pressure fryer itself; that was Colonel Harlan David Sanders who founded Kentucky Fried Chicken. What he pioneered was cooking the chicken breast for the sandwich, not inside like a normal deep fryer but inside a pressure fryer. Normally a whole breast would take two or three times as long to cook than a burger.
