The Highs and Lows of Austin's Life

It has been said that this fictional portrayal reflected Austin's own views of the city. I think she probably had a complicated relationship with Bath because of some of the great sadnesses in her life happened while she was mainly living there. She writes a lot before they go and she writes a lot when they settle at Chorton in 1809. So I think it shows kind of Bath was an interesting period for her,. One of highs and lows, I would say.
