What Is Queer Theory?

The term queer is a word that's used in the early twentieth century. It gets attached to people perceived as homosexual, but it starts to be reversed by people who self identify as gay or lesbian. By the time you get to the late eighties, early nineties, this is the moment where the development of queer theory itself comes into being. That's where the word becomes extremely common in academic discourse around sexuality.
