The Rise and Fall of Kurt Smells Like Teen Spirit
In 1987, when Kurt was 20, he and Chris formed what would eventually come to be known as the band Nirvana. The group recorded a demo tape and handed it out to fellow fans of the Melvins. In 1991, Nirvana released their second album, Nevermind. Although it initially received very little coverage, the popularity of its single smells like teen spirit eventually catapulted them into the mainstream.
