Japanese Americans shaped the environment and made contributions to environmental history. Tuichi Demoto bred chameleas, which are still being cultivated today. He planted all kinds of not only Japanese cherry trees, but also ornamentals that still persist across the US. I want people to question mainstream conservation movements when there's this attempt to preserve native species. How long must a plant persist in the US in order to finally become native? So I have all these questions.
