The Third Crusade: A Tale of Richard and Philip

We've got royal masculinity and these are very different to some of the other masculinities we see in this period. Philip Augustus has used those brothers for military alliances when it suited him. But once they're no longer politically useful, he then starts to turn away from them. Richard breaks his alliance with Philip by ditching A-list Philip's sister for a new marital alliance which comes in the shape of Beringaria of the bar. As that happens, that's then going to completely and utterly sever that political alliance between the English and the French.
