The Rise and Fall of Charles Van Doren

Charles van Doren admitted that his winning streak on a popular TV quiz show had been rigged by the show's producers. He made his confession while testifying before a congressional committee in Washington DC. Van Doren, along with 17 other contestants, were subsequently convicted of lying to a grand jury and issued suspended sentences for the crime. His central role in that scandal later inspired the Robert Redford movie Quiz Show.
