In 1949, there were still 1,704 enterprises with a total investment of $860 million in China. Joe was in charge of taking that all back and telling the foreign owners to not let the door slam their rear ends as they made their way to the exits. The world was polarizing like never before. Everyone had to tell the United States they either stood with them or stood with the Soviet block. This was the time when the propaganda industrial complexes of the US and China began their golden age.
