"I grew up in a melting pot culture went to public high school, but it was 50 miles from New York. So I'm really talking about something different," he says. "My parents are good plenty. My father died a long time ago. My mother's 92 and so so." He goes on to talk about his life at Middlebury College where there were only 1,800 people when the population is now 2,400.
