You Can't Derive Anything From Anything
Jay responds to David Deutsch's line that you can't derive anything from anything. Jay: I'm skeptical of the ought is argument and would like to hear him talk to Sean Carroll or someone who really thinks that but what does he mean when he says it? He was trying to push back on me suggesting that his view was somehow a foundationalist point of view so there you go I'll play you what i actually responded to with Coleman which was very close But what he really meant and was careful about here is that there's no foundation to knowledge There's no ultimate foundation for it because of course you can derive certain things from certain kinds of conjecture and kinds of knowledge.
