The Importance of Being a Winner
When I'm writing about someone like my mom or my siblings, that is a really heavy responsibility to put people down in a book because it's permanent. Then it's the image that other people, people who read the book carry around with them of real living people. Someone like my mom basically gives a good impression. It'd be easy to write in a way about my father that made him seem like an inhuman monster or something like that. That's just bad art for one.
