I think if you're uploading any less than once a week, then everything goes out the window. The first couple of days are like nailing down your target audience,. Like what are you actually trying to do with this channel? There's a very good online course thingy called 30 Days to a Better YouTube Channel by a company called Video Labs - sorry, Video Creators. So that would be my advice, kind of follow the stuff from video creators.
