With the death of soviet leader stalin in 19 53 and the coming to power of nikita krusthov, thereafter, relations between the eastern and western blocks in the cold war improve. And this is also reflected in television broadcasting. So from the late 19 fifties, the european broadcasting union begins to co operate more with its east,. a european equivalent. In 19 68, cheke slovac television invited also our west, western european participants to participate in intervision. That year we saw the first ever pan european song contest being staged in a carlovi vari.
