The report asked respondents about a set of contentious policy debates that are very much salient to day in india. The citizenship amendment bill, the national registry of citizens, protest against the citizenship law roiled india last year. Affirmative action and the use of defamation and sedition to try to silence critics of the modi regime were also discussed. And what we found was really interesting, which was, in most cases, you find the most support for the kind of democratic norm in the abstract.
