Glass Panes Thick at the Bottom?

It was hard to make glass evenly thick back in the day, so sometimes it would be thicker on one end than the other. The windowman would just put they would put the thicker part at the bottom because why would you put it at the top? It's more stable for it to be at the bottom. This makes perfect sense to me.
