The Romans Hate Kingships
A group of senators approached caesar in forum as the dictator was overseeing one of his building projects. They were eager to let him know, in their sycophantic state, that the senate had just passed a new law which bestowed a whole heap of new honors on Caesar. As they announced the new titles to asar, the dictator treated them with complete contempt. These rex incidents helped to send more senators into the conspirators ranks including several figures who had previously supported caesar through thick and thin.
